The Mayonic Institute of Sculpture & Traditional Architecture (MIST) is a premier educational institution established under the revered Mayan Vamsa Maha Sabha. Affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University, MIST was founded with a singular, noble purpose: to revive, protect, and pass down the sacred sciences of Sthapatya Veda to the next generation of creators.

According to ancient scriptures, in the primordial era of creation, the very first element to appear was Nada (the primal sound). From this supreme light and sound, the Parabrahman manifested as the five-faced Lord Vishwakarma, the supreme cosmic architect.
Our traditions trace our roots directly to the primordial Brahma Rishis—Sanakar, Sanatanar, Ahabhuvanasar, Pratanasar, and Suparnasar—who emerged from the five faces of the creator. They were entrusted with the five primary crafts of the universe: working with iron, wood, metal, stone, and gold. At MIST, our students walk in the footsteps of these ancient Brahma Rishis, continuing a lineage of creation that has existed since the dawn of time.
Our institute's philosophy is deeply anchored in the teachings of the Sangam-era Sculptor-Siddhar, Mamuni Mayan. Mayan was a polymath of the highest order—a scientist, visionary, linguist, and the supreme architect who lived over 15,000 years ago during the era of the Kumari Kandam (the ancient sunken continent). He is the author of the monumental philosophical text, the Ainthiram, and the astronomical treatise, the Surya Siddhanta.

Mayan understood the ultimate universal secret: "The sky itself becomes the earth." He realized that architecture is the absolute peak of mathematics, and the division of time itself translates into architectural measurements. It is this exact science, the revered 'Mayaneri', that forms the core syllabus of every diploma offered at MIST today.
